Marietta Blue Devils have been around since 1892. One hundred and thirty-four years of the same school, same navy blue, same M on the chest. The building moved five times. The wins kept stacking up.
The athletic record is long and specific. Football state titles in 1967 and 2019. Basketball state championships in 1983 and 1999. Cross country state titles in 2014, 2015, 2020, and 2022. “The Great Victory Bell” at Northcutt Stadium rings after every win, and it has rung a lot.
Dansby Swanson graduated in 2012 with straight A’s, three varsity letters in both baseball and basketball, and 165 three-pointers in his high school career. He went to Vanderbilt, won the College World Series Most Outstanding Player award, went #1 overall in the 2015 MLB Draft, and eventually won a World Series with the Atlanta Braves. Marietta High retired his number 3. That M on the chest is the same M he wore.
Joanne Woodward attended Marietta High before her family moved to South Carolina in her junior year. She went on to win an Oscar. She came back for the school’s 100th anniversary banquet in 1992. People who go to Marietta High tend to stay connected to it.
The school’s motto since the 1960s is “Be Somebody.” It came from a coach named Ben Wilkins and got carried for decades after he was gone. Marietta does that with things worth keeping.
Panda Prints runs this Marietta Blue Devils tee in white and desert tan. Desert tan is the stronger of the two. The navy M reads deeper against the warm background, and the chest print holds up the way a 134-year-old school logo should.
